Frequently Asked Questions

If you're reading this, you're probably looking for more info right? We've got you covered! Here are some of the most frequently asked questions we receive. Of course, the best way to find the answer to your question is to contact us.

  • Do I need a referral from my doctor to come?

There is no need to bring a referral for an assessment, however if you have an Enhanced Primary Care Plan from your GP or letter from your paediatrician please bring it with you.

  • How long is the wait for an appointment?

At the moment there should not be a long waiting time. We hope to be able to get you in for an assessment within two weeks, particularly if you are flexible about the time that you can come.

  • Will I need to have an Initial Assessment?

If you are unsure of your child’s specific needs, or if you have not had an assessment done in the last 12 months, then we would recommend an initial assessment. This is a 90 min session that allows an in-depth analysis of your child’s needs and goal setting for therapy if necessary. It also includes a summary report of the results and recommendations.

  • Can my child see multiple professionals from the team?

If your child needs support from different therapists then we absolutely recommend seeing more than one of us at the same time. This allows us to work together as a team to best support your child with a multidisciplinary approach.

  • How long will the therapy sessions last?

We usually recommend 60 min therapy sessions to ensure that we have enough time to work on all of the therapy goals and provide feedback and homework tasks for between sessions, however, if we feel that it is more appropriate for your child we can also do 45 min sessions.

  • How often will my child need to come to therapy?

This depends on your child’s specific areas of difficulty and goals, however generally weekly or fortnightly sessions will be recommended. Your therapist will be able to give you more information about this.

  • What kind of funding can I use at your clinic?

We are a registered NDIS provider and also accept all other private health insurance providers. We can also help you claim Medicare rebates if you have been put on a subsidised plan by your GP or Paediatrician. To make Medicare claims on site, you will need to bring along a copy of your Medicare referral, as well as a physical medicare card and card for payment.
